Rabindra Shakya, Nepal – Honored at SDG Champion Prize Ceremony 2025Kathmandu, Nepal – December 28, 2025

The SDG Champion Prize Ceremony 2025, jointly organized by Human Harmony Nepal, Project 100, and the World Conference Council with the support of the Government of Nepal, recognized Rabindra Shakya of Nepal for his outstanding contributions to SDG Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Mr. Shakya, the President of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), has dedicated his life to promoting and preserving Nepal’s rich handicraft sector. Born in Patan in 1978, he founded Nayo Craft in 2006, and since then has played a pivotal role in expanding handicraft production and exports, strengthening Nepal’s cultural identity and economic resilience.

As FHAN’s 14th President, he has led both national and international initiatives, including the 18th Handicraft Trade Fair and the Golden Jubilee “Handicraft Year 2021.” His contributions extend beyond commerce, encompassing the restoration of mural paintings, documentation of heritage sites, and reconstruction of ancient sacred texts, ensuring that Nepal’s cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.

His leadership and dedication have earned him recognition as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) by the Government of Nepal, as well as the prestigious International Icon Award 2025 and an Honorary Doctorate for his outstanding role in handicraft development and cultural preservation.

By honoring Rabindra Shakya, the SDG Champion Prize Ceremony 2025 celebrated the vital role of cultural leaders in strengthening institutions, promoting justice through heritage preservation, and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
